Help -> Projects -> Access and Groups

Starting Point: Logged into Manager with Access to Projects and navigated to "Manager -> Productivity Tools -> Projects".

Below is information about giving a user Access to Projects.

  • Admins automatically have Access to Projects.
  • Admins need to give Leaders Access to Projects before a Leader can use them. Access to Projects is given through the People Database, and the steps are described in the People Database help article about Access.
  • Once a user has Access to Projects, then a link to Projects will automatically appear in the left navigation of their Manager.
  • Users with Access to Projects can create new Projects, and there is a separate help article with more details about Creating and Editing Projects.

Below is information about Project Groups.

  • Each new Project must be assigned to a Project Group, and this Assigned To Group can not be changed once the Project has been created.
  • The Assigned To Group of a Project can only be a Project Group, and it can not be a Standard Group or an Outgoing Messages Only Group.
  • The default Projects Group is the Projects Team.
    • Being a Member of the Projects Team is what gives a Leader Access to Projects, and Membership in the Projects Team enables a Leader to see all Projects assigned to that Group.
    • Membership in the default Projects Team Group is controlled by Admins through the People Database Access tab (See People Database help article about Access for more info).
    • You can't delete the default Projects Team Group.
  • Admins can create additional Project Groups through the Groups section of the Manager.
    • Membership in one of these additional Project Groups enables a Leader to see all Projects assigned to that Group (provided the Leader has Access to Projects).
    • Membership in these additional Project Groups is controlled by Coordinators of the Group through the Groups section of the Manager.
    • An example of how one of these Groups could be used is you could create a Youth Pastor Search Group because with this approach you can have more control over who can see Projects assigned to the Youth Pastor Search Group.
  • Projects function the same for Members and Coordinators of Team Tool Groups, however, it is important to mention that there are still differences between Members and Coordinators regarding other areas of the Manager such as with Groups and Tickets.
