Help -> Outgoing Messages -> Text Message Sending Guidelines
Below are important guidelines for sending Group Text Messages using our Outgoing Messages tool. It is important that all Admins and Leaders with Access to Outgoing Messages or the People Database understand these guidelines.
- Only specify a Person as Opted-In for Bulk Texts if you have their permission to send them text messages, and your methods of obtaining consent align with the Opt-In Flow specified in your application for a texting phone number.
- Ensure that your text messages clearly identify your church or organization as the sender.
- Make sure the content and frequency of the text messages you send align with the expectations of your recipients and with the Use Cases specified in your application for a texting phone number.
- Do not send text messages containing content likely to result in high levels of spam complaints, such as payday loans, debt collection, debt consolidation, credit repair, cannabis, prescriptions, work-from-home offers, gambling, politics, polling, sweepstakes, controlled substances, and adult content.
Important Note: CTIA's Messaging Principles and Best Practices provide more in-depth information about text message sending guidelines.
Failure to adhere to these guidelines by anyone on your Leadership Team may result in one or more of the following.
- It may result in us limiting or terminating your Ministry Inbox service.
- It may result in very severe legal consequences per legislation such as the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.
